Paul John Cimins, a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, and a pioneer in mechanical engineering, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 leaving behind a legacy rich with innovation, warmth, and faith. Born on July 5th, 1947, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Florence and John Cimins, he grew into a figure of formidable talent and dedication. Together with his Dad, Paul propelled Selco Manufacturing into a beacon of excellence, contributing significantly to major railroads, General Motors, US Postal Service and even the U.S. Navy, through his inventive spirit and commitment to progress.
Beyond his professional achievements, Paul was the cornerstone of his family, providing a wellspring of love, guidance, and joy to his wife of nearly 54 years, Phyllis, his sisters Rosemary and Cathy, his brother John, his children Brian and Paul, and his grandchildren Emily, Jonathan, Logan, and Kaylee.
His selfless love for serving others was infectious, evident in his passion for coaching baseball, engaging in sleigh rides, beach outings, and his enjoyment of cruises, golf, card games, mathematics, country music, and an unwavering faith in Jesus. As a dedicated Mets fan with a historical affection for the Brooklyn Dodgers, his sports allegiances were a testament to his loyalty and spirited nature.
Just before his final moments, Paul's conversation with his son about salvation, scripture, humility, forgiveness, and faith highlighted the profound depth of his spiritual journey and his firm belief in eternal life. His love for the hymn "In the Garden" by Alan Jackson mirrored the comfort and connection he found in his faith and the hope for everlasting peace.
One of Paul's last and most visible achievements was illuminating a 16-foot cross at Lacey Christian Assembly, located at 2206 Lacey Road in Forked River. This act of faith ensured that every night, the cross shines brightly, guiding others towards the light of God's love and inspiring them to glorify our Father in heaven.
As we gather to honor Paul's remarkable life, we invite friends and family to join us on Thursday, March 28th, from 10 am with service at 12 pm at Layton Funeral Home, 250 Lacey Road, Forked River, followed by a funeral service at Ocean County Memorial Park located at 1722 Silverton Road in Toms River, NJ.
