Dorothy A. Wickham, 92, of the Bayville section of Berkeley Township, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
Born in Paterson to Philip and Maria (Lena) Weibler. Dorothy was raised and attended Saint Mary’s High School where she was a graduate in 1943. Upon graduation,
Dorothy worked as a secretary to the President of the Manhattan Rubber Company, a subsidiary of the Raytheon Corporation. It was at this time when Dorothy met and married the love of her life, John.
The couple lived in Vailsburg for several years before settling in Livingston for 33 years and then to the Lanoka Harbor of Lacey Township, for 18 years. Dorothy spent her final 7 years living in Bayville.
Dorothy was a fervent member and a daily communicant at the Church of Saint Pius X in Forked River. Dorothy also enjoyed her Bible Study class each week. Her kindness and generosity were evident to all whom she met.
She was a member of many clubs and organizations including the Knights of Columbus and the Old Guard of Forked River Auxiliaries, Woman’s Club of Lacey, Telephone Pioneers of America, Merilee Singers of Lacey Township.
Dorothy took great joy in family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, John, in August of 2005.
She was the devoted mother of her 2 children, Barbara Wickham Romanus and her husband, Albert, Bayville and Jack Wickham and his wife Janet, Lanoka Harbor; 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Dorothy at her request would be appreciated to the Church of Saint Pius X, 300 W Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731.
