Bennie Louise Kashuda, age 95, Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.Bennie was a longtime resident of Toms River before moving to Forked River 24 years ago.
Bennie was born on November 3, 1921 to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dunlap in Excelsior Springs, MO and was the last surviving sibling to 3 brothers & 4 sisters. She grew up on the plains of Southeastern Colorado where her family were successful cattle ranchers but left home when she was 18 to attend college in Denver and eventually joined the Navy where she met the love of her life and future husband, Ed.
Bennie gave up a promising career with Hewlett Packard when the company was just a new start up working out of a garage in California to be a loving and devoted wife to her late husband Ed and their four children Jeff, Greg, Mark and Mary. Later she was a cherished and wonderful Mother to her children and their spouses; Jeff, Mary & Terry, Mark & Ellen and Greg & Diane. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren Kyle, Brian, Matt, Michael, Amy, Rich & Marissa and her soon to be 1 year old great grandson, Harrison, Matt & his loving partner Collen’s beautiful son.
Bennie was an accomplished golfer thru the years & had even captured the women’s championship at Bey Lea Golf Course in Toms River on two occasions. More recently she was a member of the Cedar Creek Golf Course women’s league where she not only won numerous awards but, even more important to her, made wonderful friendships as well. She remained competitive even in her later years until finally curtailing her outings this past spring.
Bennie was not only a wonderful, kind & gentle spirit, she was fun loving & a joy to be in the company of whether watching football, baseball or golf or just bellying up to the bar for a beer & pizza and she will be missed by all whose lives she touched. We love you and miss you already. Rest in peace, Mom!
